About Me
My full name is Lee Edward Hoover Jr.
I’m married to a smoking hot woman who is a little bit better than me. Actually, she’s ten times too good for me, but I try to keep that a secret.
I was born and raised in Snohomish, Washington, a small hick town about 20-30 miles north of Seattle. Today I live in San Antonio, Texas. I graduated from Snohomish High School in 1998 and after a tumultuous year and a half of trying to pretend I could do the college thing I decided to join the Air Force.
Joining the Air Force was probably the second smartest thing I’ve ever done. I am a Television and Radio journalist for Air Force news, and have had the opportunity to travel the world and meet a lot of cool people with my job. It’s also helped me to grow up. I lived in Turkey for three years and Tokyo, Japan for two. I’ve also traveled to about 30 or so countries throughout Europe, Asia, and South and Central America. I really like the Air Force and plan on making it a career.
I have a goal to finish writing a book titled “Tuna Casserole”. Maybe some day.
I use too many commas.
I love music. All kinds. Each music style fits a different mood and my mood is always changing so I end up listening to everything. You can catch me listening to Electronica music like Boards of Canada, Moby or Sigur Ros. I also listen to a lot of “Indie” bands or singer/songwriter stuff. A few of my favorites are The Shins, Rogue Wave, Joshua Radin, Band of Horses, etc. I listen to a lot of rock, pop, even a bit of non-gangsta rap. Just about anything. If I had to give my favorites I’d say Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, and The Beach Boys.
If I’m not listening to music or on the road, I’m most likely doing “nerdy” things like updating my blog, looking at facebook, or messing around with Twitter and Photoshop. Which reminds me, I like photography. I’m not an expert photographer, but I enjoy pointing the camera and making the click sound. You can check out some of my videos at Vimeo and photos on the Photo Blog page or perhaps more so, Flickr.
I can speak spanish fairly well, I taught myself so its not perfect, but I’m always learning more and enjoy the latin culture. One secret about me is that I can dance the salsa, merengue and bachata. It’s fun.
My favorite hobby besides those above is soccer. I love to play it even though I’m getting older and slower. I love to watch it, have coached it, and just all around love it.
A few more things: I can play three chords on the guitar. I play the drum set but I don’t have one anymore.
And oh…by the way, what was the smartest thing I’ve ever done in my life? I decided to accept Christ. I’m a christian and I encourage everyone to read the Bible and seek out Jesus Christ. You can read my testimony here: My Testimony
Here are two verses I try to live by…emphasis on try
Galatians Ch 1 Verse 10:
“Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
Titus Ch 2 Verses 7,8:
“In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.”
