I can’t remember a time in my life that I’ve sat down and actually watched a lot of the Olympics. I know I’ve seen a few events, but it has never been something I made sure I was tuned in for. I think that might change this year. Actually, I know it. I am going to watch these Olympics. As much as I can.
Perhaps it’s because I have a new HDTV and the Olympics are better when I feel like I’m in the pool or on the court with the competitors. Perhaps it’s because I sat down and watched the opening ceremonies and was blown away by the presentation and entrance of all the countries (a few of which, I had no idea existed). Or perhaps it’s because I got all excited and proud when the American team entered the stadium. I felt like cheering out loud, but didn’t want to be as rude as the family living above me.
I’m not sure how much I’ll be able to watch live - I’ll probably be able to catch a bit as I eat breakfast in the mornings - but I’ll definitely be watching them in the evenings when I can. I hope you are able to do the same.
I believe I have discovered my second love (or at the very least, my newest addiction): Pandora Radio.
Stephanie directed me to the site the other day and I finally decided to give it a try this afternoon. The concept is very simple, and nearly perfect. Just enter one of your favorite bands and the website will create a radio station for you based off that band’s music style. If you’re like me and are into discovering new bands, this is a great way of doing so. I entered Rogue Wave and have listened to about six songs so far. I knew three of the bands, the other were new to me, and good.
Another tool is the ability to mix all or selected radio stations as a “Quick Mix”. I’m into latin stuff so I created a station of Bachata, Salsa, Reggaeton, etc and mixed them to create a pretty sweet mix. I don’t know a lot of latin artists, so this is good for me to discover more.
You can also rename your stations. The default name is (bands name) Radio. You can change it to a certain genre, etc. And for Mac users you can download a Dashboard widget here, which allows you have to have it open in the background instead of relying on an open browser window. They also have it for the Iphone, which I don’t have.
Anyways. All this to say: Make sure you check the site out, if you haven’t already…
This post will be only and entirely about love…true love, awesome love, the kind of love that makes you write dumb blogs about love. If you hate reading this kind of stuff, or if you just plain don’t believe in true love, you are welcome to click the back button on your browser…or, if you so wish, you can read on…maybe you will come out a believer.
Today’s October 24th…which means it’s been two weeks since I’ve written here…which means one of two things:
1.) I have been real busy
or
2.) I haven’t done anything exciting
Truthfully, it’s a little of both. I have been real busy doing nothing exciting. So, in order to make sure I continue to update my blog I [...]
I think I have discovered my one true passion in life. Perhaps it’s my calling, or my final answer to what I want to be when I grow up. It might sound crazy, but this is a pretty big deal for me. It takes a while to nail these things down when you suffer a bit from ADD. If I become interested in something on one day, two weeks later it will be something else. That’s the way my mind has worked ever since I was a child.
I took my girlfriend, Stephanie, to The Melting Pot this weekend. In case you don’t know, The Melting Pot is a really nice fondue restaurant. The type of place where you leave feeling stuffed, sick even, yet wanting more. I also bought her a nice bracelet, the first time I’ve bought her any type of jewelry. The night was a blast, we sat in a private area of the restaurant and were able to smooch like teenagers while the food was in the fondue. She was really happy with the evening, which, in turn, made me happy. I just wish I would do it more often.
Last night was a very unsettling evening. I should have known it was going to be a bad night when I visited different blockbusters around town looking for The Never Ending Story with no luck. Good news is I finally found it under a few different movies on a shelf at the [...]
Finally…
I’ve wanted a Mac for a couple years now. I always knew that with what I do on computers (photos, music, video, etc.) a mac would be a lot better for me. Friends and common sense have told me this for awhile. For some reason though, I never wanted to branch out and try something new. [...]
I just spent a week in Ecuador. I know I complained about the traveling at first, but I have to admit…after the initial crap travel day this trip has been great. Ecuador is a very cool country. Just in case you cared, I thought I’d give you a run down of what I’ve done this week. […]
In my years of traveling to foreign countries, I’ve seen some crazy versions of what most people call baggage claim. I’ve seen broken belts, those spinning metal rods, I’ve even been to an airport where they just spread out the bags on the pavement outside the plane, but Manta Airport in Ecuador has to have the craziest baggage claim I have ever seen…seriously.
