I’m back to working five days a week (I just worked three the last two), and with it comes an increase in stuff. By stuff I mean stuff to study. Today a new online course begins with (why not?) three weekly assignments, I have a speech CLEP on Friday, and I still have to study for a promotion test next month; by study I mean a couple hours a night spent…studying. Oh yeah…I also have a full-time job. Is it possible for the brain to explode?
I’m not too concerned about the online course. It’s a simple communications course, but because it’s online I have to ensure I stay on top of the course materials. If not, things can go down hill quickly. The speech CLEP is a different story. I’m stressing out big time and not even sure why. It’s not the speech that bothers me, it’s the way I have to deliver it. I am handed a topic (any topic) and I have ten minutes to prepare a speech on it. What if I have no idea what the topic is, or don’t have an opinion? I’ll be in some trouble…let’s hope that doesn’t happen. Let’s hope I succeed. If I do I get my Associates Degree…finally.
Studying for promotion isn’t difficult, just boring and time consuming…but worth it. Steph laughs at how busy I am and says I should just do what she does and after work just come home and relax. I probably should. But then she says that’s why she married me. So maybe I shouldn’t. Who knows. Either way I’m looking forward to March when most of this will be out of the way. Of course, by then I’m sure I will find new and exciting things to wrap my head around.

Chill…the speech CLEP is simple. Here is the Chris Eder tip of the day. Pick a side. Then keep it simple. Opening paragraph with your two or three points, transition sentence. Two or three paragraphs (depending on how many points you make) each with a transition sentence to the next, then conclude by re-stating your two or three points. Real simple!
Yeah, I keep telling myself that. I’ve practiced a few times and think I have the structure down. I’m just hoping I am given a topic that I can roll with. If I’m given something I know nothing about I fear I’ll freeze up or something. I’m sure I’ll be ok, but I like to stress! Thanks for the tips!
What a whiner! I’m taking classes and working 2 jobs! Beat that, military boy.
That’s not the real reason I wanted to comment. I wanted to say that randylane.org doesn’t exist anymore. Now I’m just using randyandkana.com (rarely).
Glad to hear from you! Keep updating!
Ha…true. I can be quite the whiner. Thanks for the heads up on the site. I think I knew that…just forgot.
O poor you! The AF broadcaster who made Tech in 3 years and is now looking at Master in 5! Ok I am exaggerating or being theatric as usual, but you are so far ahead of the game right now it is not funny. Go home, kiss your wife, Fill in the ____________ with something you personally enjoy doing, and relax. And o yeah… take off those silly sunglasses!
Hope all is well there Mr. Hoover. Right now it is ALS testing my time management skills! That chain of command thing is coming into focus now! LOL Next time I see you I got a great chain of command story only you and Pedro could appreciate from me. In all seriousness thanks for the help downrange and Happy New Year!
