So, I went and saw the movie 300 last night. Holy Cow. It was easily the coolest thing I have seen in a very long time. If you haven’t heard of the movie 300 then you’ve probably lived under a rock for the last month or two. I somehow convinced Stephanie to come with me and we bought tickets online to see it opening night at the IMAX theater here. I have to admit, I was a little worried. I had been waiting to see this movie for a long time, and all this week I watched the same trailer over and over again. I read every review I could find. I was worried that I had hyped it up too much (as if the media wasn’t doing that themselves). By the time I walked into the theater I was a little iffy. Twenty minutes in I realized I didn’t hype it up enough…it was actually better than I thought it would be. And to prove it…Stephanie liked it too…a lot . (she says)
Now, when I say it was the coolest thing ever, I don’t mean best. This movie is in no way compared to Braveheart, or Gladiator…other than it is better visually. I wasn’t even tempted to cry during the one or two “sad scenes” in the movie…nothing like seeing Mel Gibson scream “FREEEDOM”. But still, the movie gets you emotionally as in seeing an explosion and screaming whichever expletive you choose. My jaw dropped at least a few times in that movie…
The movie does have a lot of blood, not much “gore”, but a lot of battles. No more than something like Braveheart. But to be honest, it’s all so cool you don’t even flinch.
You have to see this movie. Even if you walk out feeling like it was a dumb “movie” you will still enjoy the fight scenes, etc. So…go see it.
