I’ve been to a lot of places. I’ve listened to a lot of songs. Each place I’ve been to has a song to go along.
Coldplay’s Fix You – I’m on the Rialto Bridge in Venice
Transatlanticism by Death Cab – I’m on a train in Tokyo, growing up. Slowly.
Wonderwall by Oasis – I’m 16, taking in England for the very first time.
It seems nearly every song I love is a place I can visit again. Metaphorically. Of course.
So I have to ask: Which songs take you places?

Re:Stacks, Bon Iver – I’m in Sydney, Australia driving down country roads at night.
Valentine’s Day by Linkin Park – in my room, staring up at the ceiling with the lights off. wasn’t a great day, but oh well, I remember it.
Speaking of Oasis… the entire “Whats the Story Morning Glory” album takes me back to the 16 hour drive cross country when my family moved from Pennsylvania to Alabama.
Dave Matthews & Tim Reynolds #41 – I’m sitting on the porch in college, smoking cigarettes with good friends.
Blue Eyes by The Cary Brothers – the first time I kissed my wife.
Good post. Music FTW.
What’s the Story Morning Glory is a great album, one of my favorites. I bought it before I went to Europe when I was 16 and listened to it the whole trip. It always takes me back. Anything by Cary Brothers is great…especially Honestly.
Love Generation by Bob Sinclar will always take me back to a boat ride around the island of Koh Phi Phi Thailand. The whole boat started whistling and life really could not have been any sweeter.
Oh my gosh! Coldplay! Everything they sing gives me shivers and brings me back to the time when me and my husband were dating. Including our wedding’s first dance song “Sparks”. Literally makes me burst in tears of happiness.
