My Deployment

macbook

It’s a love and hate relationship right now

Ever since I bought my MacBook Pro, I’ve been running around telling everybody how great it is….and it is…when it works. Lately though, my Mac has decided to not work very well and I’m not entirely sure why. Whenever I try to turn it on it becomes a hit or miss situation; sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

I’ve searched online through as many forums as I can find, including the Apple website, and I still can’t find a solution. Everything points to memory. I’ve taken whatever steps to fix the problem according to the forums, but it still isn’t fixed.

So, I figured maybe if I posted the situation up here on my blog someone might help me…

- Every time (ok not every time, but the majority of times) I startup the MacBook I hear a soft click, I get a gray screen, it clicks three more times and then the LED light flashes three times repeatedly.

- I’ve checked the forums as I said and all signs point to a PRAM issue, and I’ve tried to reset the PRAM with no luck. I’ve tried verifying and repairing all permissions, I’ve verified the disk and it’s ok, I have the latest firmware update, and I still have this issue.

So…any ideas? Anybody?

Thankfully, I do have the Mac Extended Care Plan. I just don’t think Afghanistan has any Apple stores so it might be hard to get service before I get home…somebody help me.

P.S. My ankle is fine now…

  1. I had the same problem with my 12″ PowerBook G4 earlier last year. I was told by an Apple Genius it was a logic board issue and the logic board would have to be replaced.

I said BS, it was only defective memory — I bought new RAM chips and it worked fine.

It’s all hit or miss brotherman.
